Outcome of Development Panel

Today's development panel considered the application for a single turbine at Lees Rigg, Mealsgate. After some discussion councillors voted by 8-4 to refuse this scheme.
An application for a larger, 77m turbine at Fox House, Broughton was removed from the agenda and will be considered at a later date. We think this may be due to the realisation that the officers had failed to notice a repeated objection by NATS to this proposal.

The same developer had another similar scheme up for consideration, at nearby West House, Dearham.  Councillors voted to defer a decision on this one after officers were unable to confirm that consultees had been given the correct co-ordinates of the turbine location. This is critical in the consideration of aviation safety, of course.

And finally, Allerdale were asked, by Cumbria County Council, to comment on the proposal for 4 turbines at Lillyhall. Councillors unanimously agreed to object to the scheme.

Thanks for those who spoke, and particular thanks to all who attended to support all the speakers today.
