Middlegill Farm, Howgate

HM Planning inspectorate have dismissed the appeal over a single turbine at Middlegill Farm, Howgate, Distington.

Planning permission is refused.

Reasons for refusal briefly, considering residents and tourists - "the turbine would constitute a major change in the overall view". For road users at Howgate roundabout (!) it would "have an overbearing appearance on the overall views"

The inspector goes on to remark that the "stark, utilitarian appearance of the proposed turbine, it's height and it's prominent position would all combine to make it an incongruous feature..."

The conclusion regarding visual impact is that the turbine would have an unacceptable effect on the character and appearance of the landscape.

A very pleasing result regarding the landscape and visual impacts.
